Who decides what posts appear on the eVillage Melbourne home page?
Posts that appear on the home page represent a cross section of posts logged in the various eVillage Melbourne forums. Posts are selected by the eVillage Melbourne community manager, and members are not notified when their post is featured on the homepage.

Who runs eVillage Melbourne?
eVillage Melbourne is managed by independent online community specialists, BrandAide Communications. eVillage Melbourne has a small dedicated community management team that helps ensure the village offers an environment of trust and open conversation. The management team has a lot of experience in managing online communities and enforce forum rules when necessary.
Is eVillage Melbourne moderated?
Yes, eVillage Melbourne is monitored and moderated by its community management team. The site is maintained as a family-friendly place to visit. Posts that break forum rules may be removed without explanation. All users are expected to abide by the rules of the website. These rules form part of the eVillage Melbourne Terms and Conditions.

Why do I have to register?
Registration helps us ensure that you are who you say you are, and that your posting is legitimate. You must provide a valid name, email address and phone number.
Why can't I log in?
If you have not registered, you won’t be able to log in. If you have been banned, you won’t be able to log in. If you have registered and are not banned, check (and double-check) your username and password. If you still can’t log in,
I've lost my password
Don't panic. Your password can be reset. Go to the login page and click Forgot your password .You should be back online in no time.
I registered but can’t log in.
First, check that you are entering the correct username and password. Your account may need activating. When you registered you would have received an email containing activation details, just follow the instructions; if you did not receive the email then check that your email address is valid. If you are sure the email address you used is valid, then just contact us via Contact Us.
I can’t log in any more.
Have you changed your details (such as your email address) since you first registered? Make sure you are using your correct log in details. You may also have been banned from the site, particularly if you have broken any of our rules.
Why do I get logged off automatically?
If you do not check the ‘log me in automatically’ box, the board will only keep you logged in for a preset time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else.
Don’t check the ‘log me in automatically’ box if you are accessing the site from a shared computer.

Getting personal
How do I change my settings or update my details?
When you join the eVillage Melbourne community, your personal details and setting preferences are stored (securely) in our database. To change your details or settings, go to My Profile.

What does eVillage Melbourne do with my personal details?
Personal details collected by eVillage Melbourne are used only for verification purposes and for anonymous analytical reporting, such as demographic profiling. Personal details are stored in a secure database facility and will never be sold. No organisation, including the City of Melbourne or University of Melbourne, has access to your details without your explicit permission.
If the City of Melbourne or any other organisation wants to contact you directly, we will ask your permission before forwarding your details on. You are entitled to say no.

What are the eVillage Melbourne Talking Points?
Future Melbourne will explore a range of ‘talking points’ that encompass every aspect of city life. Talking points include: business; culture; destination; environment; global; knowledge; living; moving; public; service; and sport.
By joining the eVillage Melbourne community you can access the forums and make comments and submissions on any of these 11 talking points. What is a Talking Point ‘Driver’?
City of Melbourne has nominated a ‘driver’ for each Talking Point. These are experts in the field and are responsible for fostering the debate and managing the topics.
Who are 'FM Team' members ?
City of Melbourne has nominated members of the Future Melbourne Team to jump online from time to time to help members with specific issues.
I’ve been to a forum – how do I post my feedback? Simply select the talking point that is most relevant to your comment, and post your comment within that forum. If you have a broad, or general comment, you can post comments in the general Future Melbourne forum, or consider making multiple posts under different talking points.
How do I post a topic in a forum?
You need to sign up and log in to post a comment. Once you are logged in, select the forum topic you wish to post your message to, select 'New Topic' and follow the prompts.

Why do I have to complete a posting form?
The information collected in posting forms is used by Future Melbourne to help identify issues, values and topics for discussion at Future Melbourne events and for inclusion in the Future Melbourne plan. Posting forms include information that will help Future Melbourne understand your views and use them in the way you intended.
Why do I need to rate my feelings on my posts?
We ask you to rate your feelings to help us understand the importance of your comments. Are you making a passing observation, or does this issue affect you every day? Rating your feelings can add a powerful weight to your comments, and helps Future Melbourne interpret your comments.
How do I edit or delete a post?
Once a post has been made, you cannot return to edit or delete it. So before submitting your posts, we strongly recommend that you check them by selecting the ‘preview’ option. Only when you are happy with your comments should you submit them.
Only eVillage community managers can edit or remove posts, and posts will only be edited and/or removed when they break forum rules.
My Posts have disappeared.
Posts may be removed at the discretion of the eVillage community managers. Posts will be removed if:
• it breaks a forum rule;
• the conversation is no longer active, appropriate or relevant.
No warning is given and removed posts will not be reinstated. So please don’t ask.
